Faith Over Fear!

During the planning phase of the 7 Seed Empowerment Group’s 3rd Annual Celebration Empowerment Brunch, we decided to sell t-shirts. I didn’t want to sell just anything, I wanted it to have substance and a meaning to me and to our patrons. I prayed and asked God to tell me what He wanted me to do. Just as clear as a physical voice, I felt the Spirit say “Faith Over Fear”. It sounds so basic, but it means so much. According to Merriam-Webster, faith is having allegiance to duty or person, fidelity to one’s promises, or belief and trust in and loyalty to God. Hebrews 11:1 states “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen”. I thought about it and really wanted to break that scripture down into bit- sized pieces. If faith is the substance that means it is a fundamental principle upon which we stand and the courage to believe that it will happen, based on our faith. For me that is powerful. It is the opposite of fear. Fear is being afraid of something that you may or may not be able to avoid or change. Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real. Fear is direct contradiction of faith. You can’t genuinely serve and trust God without faith. That was a hard pill to swallow, when most things in our society contradict that point. Since beginning this ministry, I have been stretched and challenged beyond my wildest thoughts and perceptions. I realized that when I surrender my thoughts, will, and emotions to God, all my fears disappear. Hence, the success of the t-shirt line “Faith Over Fear”.
